The Great North Run, this year branded the Simplyhealth Great North Run, is the largest half marathon in the world.

Our lovely Linden Ladies team will be participating this year on the arduous run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields.

Sir Mo Farah is reigning men’s champion, he has, in fact, won for the last four years on the trot. Quite a feat. Perhaps our team will produce the famous ‘Mobot’ celebration upon completion of their run this year?! Let us know what you think!

The Great North Run is a mass participation event: two lines of runners merging near the one mile mark. The run was devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster. Foster was inspired after running in the Round the Bays Race in New Zealand in 1979, and has built upon the Great North Run with a series of other Great Run road races.

Good luck to Sian Hales, Ursula Holmes, Alison Wray and Suzy Lobley!

Just the 1:05:39 ladies record to beat 🙂

The Linden House Ladies Triathlon Team recently completed The Brownlee Triathlon at Harewood House.

This was a relay team event with Sian swimming 750 metres in  cold lake water, Ursula taking on a very hilly 25 km bike ride and Alison running 5.5 km through woods, trails and even a ford.

They were enthusiastically supported by a cheering party of practice nurses and staff. The event was a fund raiser for Macmillan Cancer Research.

What you need to know before committing to tooth whitening treatment

You should do some careful research before committing to tooth whitening. Talk to other patients who have received the same treatment or visit Harrogate Dentist, Linden House for a professional opinion until you feel confident enough to go ahead with treatment. If your treatment is going to be carried out at the time rather than at a future appointment, don’t be afraid to ask simple questions during your appointment. Always ask for a written treatment plan and estimate of the cost before agreeing to start the treatment.

Tooth whitening can lighten the shade of your natural teeth, but before you commit to having treatment it’s important that you’re fully aware of what to expect, what the risks are and who is allowed to carry it out

You may want to ask some of the following 9 questions:

  1. Who will be carrying out the procedure? What training and experience do they have?
  2. Is the person performing the treatment registered with the GDC? Are they a dentist, dental hygienist, dental therapist or clinical dental technician?
  3. What types of tooth whitening are available and what are the differences between them?
  4. What are the risks? Will it hurt?
  5. What sort of results can I expect?
  6. Can tooth whitening be carried out on stained veneers, crowns or dentures to make sure they match the colour of my natural teeth?
  7. Is the work guaranteed for a certain length of time?
  8. What aftercare is provided and who can I contact for advice after treatment?
  9. What happens if I’m unhappy with the results? Who will pay for any work that is done to correct any problems?
