This was a relay team event with Sian swimming 750 metres in cold lake water, Ursula taking on a very hilly 25 km bike ride and Alison running 5.5 km through woods, trails and even a ford.
They were enthusiastically supported by a cheering party of practice nurses and staff. The event was a fund raiser for Macmillan Cancer Research.
You should do some careful research before committing to tooth whitening. Talk to other patients who have received the same treatment or visit Harrogate Dentist, Linden House for a professional opinion until you feel confident enough to go ahead with treatment. If your treatment is going to be carried out at the time rather than at a future appointment, don’t be afraid to ask simple questions during your appointment. Always ask for a written treatment plan and estimate of the cost before agreeing to start the treatment.
Tooth whitening can lighten the shade of your natural teeth, but before you commit to having treatment it’s important that you’re fully aware of what to expect, what the risks are and who is allowed to carry it out

“A 15-year-old girl presented for an initial consultation, complaining that a filling in her back tooth had broken. She was not experiencing any pain, although she was finding the tooth rough and uncomfortable against her tongue. Examination revealed that a large amalgam restoration in the upper left first molar had fractured. See image above.
Our dental nurse Jenny Hawkins is now qualified in Dental Radiology, meaning we now have three nurses with this advanced qualification.
All our nurses at Linden House are fully qualified Dental Nurses and registerd with the General Dental Council.
American scientists have discovered a gene blocker that they claim prevents tooth decay. This chemical could be incorporated into sweets provided by your dentist! Linden House Dentist, Sian Hayles, currently offers ‘Minimal Intervention Dentistry’ which involves chemical treatments to the roots of teeth to prevent decay. Sian comments: “With an ageing population we are now finding teeth are being lost because they simply crumble away with age. With this new technique the teeth are actually strengthened by applying chemical coatings. This could benefit children with a high decay rate as well as the elderly.”
There has always been a suspected link between gum disease and heart disease. A new study has now revealed that the state of your teeth and gums can have a serious impact on your overall health.
Gum disease is linked to a raised risk of heart disease and strokes. There are also links to diabetes, premature births and obesity.
At Linden House Dental Practice we have long recognised that more teeth are lost in adults through gum disease than tooth decay and we strive to pass this message on to our patients. We reccommend 6 monthly visits not just for teeth but also to screen your mouth for gum disease. We also offer frequent visits to our hygienists should any problems be detected. more
